COMMUNITY | HISTORY | INVOLVEMENT

In 1998, I found my way to Colorado, drawn by its majestic landscapes and vibrant communities.
Settling in Sloans Lake in 2002, I immersed myself in the local community.
My journey began with a passion for water skiing, spending exhilarating moments on
Sloans Lake before swiftly transitioning back to the office to sell real estate.
Sloans Lake became my sanctuary, a serene escape from the bustle of the city.
However, I noticed something crucial—the community surrounding the lake
was underserved, lacking initiatives that could truly enrich its potential.

One pivotal thought sparked a transformation: 
"Why don't we host a music festival at Sloans Lake?" 
In 2016, that idea materialized into reality I spearheaded the inaugural music festival, 
birthing"Jamming On the Jetty." This event not only brought music enthusiasts together
but also served as a catalyst for funding and resources for the park, laying the
foundation for positive change. Subsequently, I was elected President of the
Sloans Lake Presidential Group, a registered neighborhood organization.
Revitalizing the group, I hosted local meetings, inviting new businesses into the fold and
engaging elected officials to bridge the gap between the community and its representatives. 
This surge of enthusiasm translated into collaborative efforts between the
government sector and community stakeholders.

The synergy between "Jamming On the Jetty" and the
Sloans Lake Park Foundation became evident as resources poured in.
Our focus extended beyond entertainment, diving into education and advocacy.
We shed light on the lake's struggles—pollution, depth concerns, the fragility of
the ecosystem prompting clean-up initiatives and proactive measures.
Through these endeavors, we've not only created an example of community - driven
change but also highlighted the significance of uniting for the preservation and
enhancement of Sloans Lake. It's a journey of dedication, a tale of fostering
connections and igniting a collective passion for the betterment of our beloved lake.
